The sound of oompah, aroma of sausage and kraut, and the dancing feet of cloggers will once again greet visitors to Clifton as their 4th Annual OktoberFest kicks off! The third weekend in October, Clifton will set aside its Norwegian Capital of Texas designation and celebrate its German heritage. All are invited to sing, dance and toast the celebration of Clifton's rich heritage.

OktoberFest will start Friday evening on College Hill with the Bosque Conservatory's 1st annual Kaleidoscope Festival celebrating the arts of Central Texas. Then Saturday morning, the Conservatory on College Hill and Main Street in historic downtown will begin at 10am delighting all that attend. Join us for entertainment, arts and crafts, car show, judged art show and sale, children activities, food, drink and much more. At 10am the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home will begin the viewing of over 100 handmade quilts in the National Guard Armory located in Clifton's City Park. At noon the nationally recognized quilt auction will begin. Then, Saturday evening the Clifton Chamber of Commerce will host an authentic German Dinner and Dance on the street in downtown Clifton.

Shopping - You won't be able to resist the unique wares, including handmade works of wood, pottery, clothing, stained glass, jewelry, gifts, and much more, not to mention the retailers located in downtown with over 100 antique vendors in three large antique malls, specialty shops, and tea room.

Family Area
- Fun is waiting in the kid's area with inflatables, games and entertainment.

Food & Drink - A variety of vendors are ready to serve up sausage and kraut, potato pancakes, hamburgers, chicken on a stick, BBQ, roasted turkey legs, sausage on a stick, roasted corn, funnel cakes, and much more. The VFW is ready to wet your whistle at the beer garden.

Entertainment - A covered stage will include entertainment for all. German favorites of oompah, polka, and waltzing are a sampling with plenty of opportunity for dancing - including the irresistible "chicken dance", but country, jazz, and easy listening will also be on the day's entertainment schedule.

Car Show - Come "cruise" through the wide variety of antique cars on display or enter your car in the 4th annual Oktoberfest car show.

Art Show - Come view the arts with the Bosque Conservatory Art Club's 2006 Judged Art Show and Sale which will be located in the Civic Center throughout the day.

Pet Parade - Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) hosts a walkathon fundraiser for school children and their pets at Heritage Plaza.

Quilt Auction - Starting at 10 a.m. view over 100 handmade quilts in the Armory at Clifton's City Park. Then, beginning at noon the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home will begin their nationally recognized quilt auction. Beautiful quilts to please everyone's taste will be available. www.sunsetaux.org

The weekend event will feature a performance Friday evening by renowned cowboy songwriter and singer, Don Edwards. Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. lots of food, fun and family entertainment will be ongoing. A variety of talented musicians will perform on center stage.
